Shorter Walks

Sandwood Bay
During the Summer of 2019 while on the West Coast of Scotland we spend a day at Sandwood Bay to reach Sandwood Bay you either walk, cycle or sail.
I walked
Kerrera Island
If you are in Oban make sure that you take a hike on Kerrera this is the island just off shore from the harbour, but take care and make sure that if waling in the summer you are prepared for the bracken and as always carry a paper map and a compass
This is a walk up to the Cairngorm then taking the funicular back down
This is a walk with a twist you walk up to the top from one of the lower car parks then take the funicular down after a meal at the restaurant at the view point You will also have a short walk after coming off the funicular back down to the lower car park from where you started
Loch Ness Dores to Foyes
This is walk to do if you are at Loch Ness Shores campsite
Catch the bus outside the campsite to Dores (just ask the driver to tell you when you are there
You stop at a lay-by walk across the road then join the route to Foyers
This walk is mainly along paths but does join the B852 at a couple of places but are this road is usually pretty quiet it is not really a problem
Coniston Old Man there and back again
This is a short walk from Coniston up to the top of the Old Man and then back down again
Short walks around Hitchin
As i am living in Hitchin there are several short walks that i have taken over the last couple of years
Part of the Hicca Way (from St Faith Church to Arlesey Station)
This is a one way walk from St Faiths Church Hitchin to Arlesey Station
You take the train back from Arlesey to Hitchin station then walk back from the station to the church car park
This is a great walk that only covers part of the Hicca way It is across open fields near or next to the river hiz the walk can be muddy so pick a dry day
Lilley to Telegraph Hill (circular walk)
This is a short circular walk from Lilley village out towards Telegraph Hill then to views across the Pegsdon Downs then back again to Lilley and of course a stop off at one of the local pubs
Lilley to Warden Hill (Circular)
This is a variation of the walk above with views across Luton
Westmill Lane, Hitchin to Pirton via the Hambridge Way
This is a walk from Westmill Lane to Pirton via the Hambridge Way. When reaching the destination you can stop at the Fox Pub or go up past the Church to The Moat and Bailey pub at the village green Once taken refreshment then retrace your steps back to Westmill Lane. There is limited parking at the top of Westmill Lane
