Hitchin Hoop
(In part ) Beating the Bounds of Hitchin Parish
This is a walk that is about 12 mile or just under 20km in new money. This is a walk that takes in the countryside around Hitchin and gives you a real taste of the Hertfordshire countryside although a longish walk it is not that challenging as there is only one hill in the walk (Wilbury Hill on the Outskirts of Letchworth), apart from this its all down hill.
When i have walked this I have started from Walsworth Common Car park but there are many other starting points this route is very accessible due to the links with public transport.
I have split the walk into 4 sections but it is not too demanding to walk in one day
There is a very good reference created by North Hertfordshire Ramblers
The walk following in part the track of the ancient Beating the Bounds of Hitchin Parish and the best way to enjoy this walk is by joining St Faiths Church in their walk
Several images from my walks the images link to images of the 4 sections of the Hoop
The first set of images are from a walk around Hitchin following in the main the Hitchin Hoop and the walk that follows in part ‘beating the bounds of Hitchin’
The walk is split into 4 parts 3 parts of around 7 km and a last part of around 10km

This images above are taken on the first part of the Hitchin loop

Images from the second part of the loop

The third section of the Hoop. Several of the pictures are of the walk through Hitchin Town.

The last part of the Hitchin Hoop this is an especially pretty part of the walk.
The Hitchin Hoop can be done in several parts or as one longer walk.
Take a picnic or if the pub in Charlton or in the Town as the later part of the walk takes in some of Hitchin
Or just some sandwiches or a take-away from the many outlets in Hitchin
